Pamper your friends with hampers

The word Hamper is a term for a basket or a bag, which is generally used in transportation of items such as fruits, vegetables, food etc. Some parts of the world it is also considered as a cleanup. It also has an agricultural meaning where it refers to the harvesting of the crops. This is not the common meaning we all are aware of nowadays. The first word that tags along with the word hamper is ‘Gift’. So a gift hamper is something like a basket full of goodies a person would receive on any occasion such as birthday, anniversary or even graduation day.

Earlier days, the hampers were a very prestigious way of honouring a person for something he or she has accomplished. It was also considered as a charitable donation. These hampers used to be sent to the person in very fashionable baskets which were decorated specially for this purpose. The concept of the hampers remains the same nowadays, only difference being that it is done on a more regular basis. The festive season sees a lot of these hampers being given away to their beloved.

This has off late also become a business. Thanks to technology, a person can send a gift hamper to someone staying at the other corner of the world. This is possible through the internet. One person can just order what he or she wants to send online and the delivery of the item will be made at the receiver’s doorstep within a few days.

These gifts could be anything, and by anything it can be literally anything. It can be even simple flowers or a bouquet of it. These items can range from food, toys, chocolates, birthday gifts, clothes, fruits, a greeting card to even very expensive items such as jewellery etc. Some companies offer very personalized gifts which are custom made to suit the purpose. They can be key chains with a name or initials embedded on it. The options are limitless and anything what a person can think of which would suit the person at the receiving end could be sent as a gift no matter how far the other person is.

There are basically two types of hampers:

Charitable Hampers: These hampers are usually given away during festivals such as Christmas etc where the items are usually celebratory in nature. These are usually wrapped in very simple fashion and would be physically handed to the recipient.

Commercial Hampers: These are hampers which are sold by companies which are items chosen by the customer. The companies try and compile a custom gift which the customer would like.
