Wharetana is a luxuriously appointed four bedroom house overlooking secluded Dead Dog Bay. Designed by New Zealand architect Geoff Richards and completed in 2006 the house offers complete privacy in a stunning coastal setting. Wharetana has its own microclimate and enjoys all day sun. The house offers over 500m2 of living space with several decks and terraces overlooking the gardens and bay. The north façade consists almost completely of glass maximising the stunning views across the bay. Huge sliding windows open the house to the exterior decks allowing you to experience the best of inside/outside living throughout the day. The interiors are open plan and large scale with polished concrete floors throughout. The state of the art kitchen is fully equipped with Miele appliances, American style fridge freezer, wine fridge and double stainless steel sinks set into a massive stone bench. Eating can be either at the bench- counter-style or in the dining area. There is an elegant sitting room with fireplace and projector screen for late night movies. Downstairs there are two further double bedrooms with queen sized beds beside a huge bathroom with walk in shower and bath. These bedrooms may be interconnected or completely separate and open onto a large terrace adjacent to the pool. There is a large laundry with dishwasher and further downstairs cloakroom which makes poolside entertaining easy. There is extensive built-in storage throughout the house. The heated 13 metre infinity pool is fully fenced and has relaxation areas, an outside shower and landscaping. The poolside terrace has a dining area for 10. There is a sheltered Astroturf tennis court complete with umpire’s chair. The extensive grounds are landscaped with the majority in native bush. The gardens are best described as New Zealand native & subtropical meets English country garden head on. There are and many delightful views and secluded spots with a a gentle winding path which brings you to the secluded bay and reserve below.
