I do own Brand New Sin´s first album from 2002 but haven´t heard a single note from their following albums, "Recipe for disaster" (2005), "Tequila" (2006) and "Distilled" (2009). Their songs have been used as themes for WWE and in October, they´re back with the 5th full lenght album "United state". The core of the band features Kris Wiechmann - Vocals/Guitar, Chuck Kahl - Bass and Kevin Dean - Drums and they´ve got company of the new guitarist Tommy Matkowski who replaced long time member Kenny Dunham. Brand New Sin supported Slash in 2010 which should have suited Slash´s fans just fine since some of BNS´s songs go in the same vein as GunsNRoses, I think of new songs like "Infamous" and "The lord came down" that echoes Appetite for destruction a long way.
BNSare a lot heavier on tracks like "Know yourself" and "Groups of 5" where the listener gets a dose of southern rock a la Black Label Society, the song "Your song anddance" bring thoughts to New York Dolls meets Dr Feelgood while my favorite "All my wheels" can be described as a heavier The Rolling Stones. If you´re into boogie riffin rocknroll, then you´re in for a treat with "Bed of nails", BNS is also about acoustic whiskey drinking rocknroll with tattoos and cigarettes if you care to listen to songs like "Elbow grease" and "Rotten as hell". They pull off 2 covers of AC/DC´s "What do you do for money" and Black Sabbath´s "The wizard" which both are a nice welcome for long time fans, the bonus tracks also includes an acoustic version of "Sad wings" (originally on their debut album). 16 tracks is a lot of music for your money so get the album when it´s out on Oct 11th.
